There's always a dark corner

At the end of my garden is a shady corner that never gets any attention, aka dead space.

A small apple tree (which I am yet to discover the species of) sits in the very middle of the grass. Although it has been viewed as an obstruction for my 10 years of living here, I have chosen to view it as a feature that draws attention to the area after its beautiful bloom this Spring.

As you can see there is a lot of lawn to work with and, believe me, it is a struggle trying to keep it moss free! My solution to this situation is to reduce the amount of lawn by putting in borders, beds and other aesthetically pleasing areas.

This is the back-most corner of the garden and I am still considering what to fill it with:
  • pond
  • fountain
  • statue
  • obelisk

My designs in my sketchbook are leaning towards putting in some boulders, a small pond and grasses and irises, but if any of you have any innovative ideas or just a stroke of genius please do let me know!
